I painted this as a birthday gift for my Aunt Annie who is very special to me.
This painting was entered in the Contra Costa County Secondary Schools Art Show sponsored by the Antioch Civic Arts Commission in 1990 and won "Best of Show" in the painting category.
(I won "Best of Show" in the painting category three consecutive years.)
This painting also helped me receive a full scholarship for the California State Summer School for the Arts Program which I attended at CalArts in Valencia, CA in 1992. I was one of eight students from the Contra Costa County selected to attend the program in 1992. Eight students were picked from each county of California to attend this program, each student representing a specific category in the arts such as fine art, photography, design, animation, performing art, dancing and music. |
