So, you may be wondering, "Why did Anna name this painting 'Number One'?" Well, to appease my parents, I went to Cal to study Computer Science, Business Administration, or Economics... something that may help me make a living when I've graduated. I spent about 2.5 years taking courses in those areas but I felt completely lost so I decided to take a painting class in my junior year.
Finally, this was the first painting I had really done since 1992; I spent about 20 hours in front of the blank canvas and then suddenly everything came into place all at once. By the time I left the studio, I had eaten all the eggs and fruit... somehow giving me renewed energy to produce dozens more paintings, open my first solo art exhibition by 1996 at Cafe Milano in Berkeley, CA and pursue a second major in Fine Art. |
